Music Lesson Information

  • All lessons take place in my studio in Longwood, Huddersfield or at St. Aelred’s Community Centre, York.
  • I teach in Huddersfield, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday and in York, Thursday and Friday.
  • Lessons are available during the day, afternoon and evening.
  • Lessons fees are set for each academic year from 1st September and are reviewed each year.
  • Lessons fees are invoiced monthly in arrears for those with a regular slot in the studio and can be paid by cash or bank transfer.
  • Ad Hoc students pay on a pay as you go system by cash or bank transfer.
  • It is expected that students with a recurring slot will attend at least 35 lessons a year to keep their slot.
  • The studio is open most weeks of the year with a 2-week break at Christmas and summer. Lessons can be taken in the school holidays.
  • Dates, when the studio is closed, will be displayed in advance on the notice board or on your student portal via the website.
  • Lessons cancelled with less that 24 hours notice, will be paid for in full.
  • Lessons can be re-arranged within the same week if there is a slot available, please make all changes via your portal not by text message.
  • Lessons missed by the teacher will not be charged for.
  • If a student is ill or in case of bad weather (if you have covid symptoms, please do not attend) a lesson can be moved online. For a student to cease lessons, a months’ notice is required, whether the lessons are taken or not within the notice period.
  • Ad hoc students can book a slot via the portal, though there is no guarantee there will be slots available every week.
  • All exam and competition fees must be paid in advance of the closing dates.
  • Practice means progress and students should ensure they can make time to do practice in-between lessons. Should a student fail to make progress due to lack of practice, the teacher has the right to cease lessons.
  • Parents/carers and adult students must notify me off any health issues or allergies that might cause issues in the lessons.
  • Anyone of any religion, race, colour, background, sexual orientation, learning difference or disability is welcome to have lessons. I aim to provide a safe space to learn and expect that my students and their families show the same level of respect to others.
  • I am paediatric first aid trained, have public liability insurance and an up to date DBS and undergo regular safeguarding training.
